Our current research primarily centers around the secondary complications of spinal cord injury, focusing on empowering individuals with SCI, their families, and caregivers to take proactive measures to effectively prevent and manage complications in their daily lives. 
Jeanne Zanca, MPT, PhD, directs the Self-Management Skill Development Laboratory, part of the Center for Spinal Cord Injury Research where she is also assistant director at Kessler Foundation. The Lab team's work focuses on encouraging individuals with spinal cord injury (SCI) to take action for a healthy life through the application of knowledge, skills, and resources. To achieve this goal, the team develops a range of interventions and initiatives designed to promote well-being among people with SCI and family caregivers in addition to facilitating peer mentoring.
